"Love & Respect: Cracking the Communication Code With Your Mate" By Dr. Emerson Eggerichs

I recently read this book after it was suggested by a friend of mine who found it really helpful. I had read Dr. Eggerichs’ Love & Respect and found that to be very informative and useful so I decided to give this one a try too.

I was slightly disappointed with how much time was devoted to summarizing Love & Respect. While it was very good, I didn’t feel that so much effort needed to be put into summarizing when this is a completely different book and should have spent more time delving into the specifics of what he had mentioned in Love & Respect. I was looking at this book as a continuation of Love & Respect, and going deeper in the concept of the book, rather than a summarization.

I found the book to be helpful after sifting through all the summaries. My husband is a little different than “most men” it seems, and there never seems to be anything I can do that he finds disrespectful. However, it was very interesting to continue learning ways of good communication and I found it to be helpful with just that. We have always had a problem communicating, as most couples probably do. I enjoy learning how others think, so this was a fun read.
